About Us

Montana Watercourse is a statewide water education program founded in 1989.  Housed on the Montana State University Campus in Bozeman, the grant-funded organization is an outreach arm of the Montana Water Center . Unbiased information, education opportunities, resources, and tools are provided to all water users in a neutral, inclusive and cooperative manner to achieve the mission, "Fostering stewardship of Montana's water resources."

Montana Watercourse offers presentations, workshops, trainings, tours and publications. These services are available to anyone, including landowners, community members, educators, water-oriented organizations, Realtors, planners and developers, cities and counties, and others with a tie to water.

Information and educational forums are provided on a variety of water resource topics including: water management and conservation, watersheds, water quality, water quantity, water rights, wetlands and riparian areas, ground water / surface water interaction, water and land use issues, and aquatic life.

Montana Watercourse is a grant funded organization. The following organizations and agencies, among others, have provided generous support for our programs and services: Cinnabar Foundation, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Ducks Unlimited, Montana Association of Conservation Districts, Montana Community Foundation, Montana Department of Environmental Quality, Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation, Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks, Montana Trout, Natural Resource Information System, PPL Montana, Sonoran Institute, Trout Unlimited, USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, US Environmental Protection Agency, and US Fish & Wildlife Service.
